Stamped Overlay Concrete
Decorative Resurfacing — Stone, Slate & Brick Looks Over Existing Concrete
Overview
Stamped concrete overlays transform tired, stained, or outdated concrete into a stunning decorative surface — without the cost or disruption of a full tear-out. Lone Star JC Construction installs custom stamped overlays for Fort Bend County homeowners who want the look of natural stone, slate, brick, or wood plank at a fraction of the cost of real materials.
An overlay is a thin layer of polymer-modified cement applied over existing concrete. Once cured to the right consistency, it's stamped with textured mats and hand-tooled to replicate the joints and grain of high-end materials. The surface is then sealed for years of protection against UV, moisture, and Texas weather.
Owner Jesus Coria personally oversees every overlay project. Decorative concrete is a craft — color saturation, stamp alignment, joint placement, and release timing all have to be right or the finish looks artificial. With 20+ years of concrete experience, Jesus runs each pour himself so the result looks like the inspiration photo.
Stamped overlays are ideal for patios, pool decks, front entries, walkways, and driveways where the existing slab is structurally sound but the finish is worn. We assess every slab before quoting — if the substrate isn't suitable, we'll tell you up front and recommend a new pour instead.

Our Process
Assessment & Design Consultation
We inspect the existing slab for cracks, structural issues, and bond quality. We walk through pattern options, color schemes, and border designs so you can see exactly what the finished surface will look like.
Substrate Preparation
The existing concrete is pressure-washed, etched, or mechanically profiled to ensure a strong bond. Cracks are repaired and joints are honored or relocated as needed.
Bond Coat & Base Layer
A bonding primer is applied, followed by the base overlay layer at the correct thickness for the chosen stamp pattern.
Color & Stamping
Integral color and antique release are applied. Stamp mats are pressed into the overlay at the right cure window, then hand-tooled at edges and joints for a seamless natural look.
Cleaning & Sealing
After full cure, the surface is washed and finished with a UV-stable acrylic or polyurethane sealer that locks in color and protects against stains, moisture, and wear.

Timeline Expectations
- Small patios and entries (under 300 sq ft): 2-3 days
- Standard patios and pool decks (300-800 sq ft): 3-5 days
- Large driveways and combined areas (800+ sq ft): 4-7 days
- Add 24-48 hours of cure time before walking; 5-7 days before furniture or vehicles
Cost Considerations
Stamped overlays typically run $8-$18 per square foot depending on pattern complexity, color count, and substrate prep required.
Multi-color overlays, custom borders, and intricate patterns cost more than single-color basic stamps.
Substrate repair (filling cracks, leveling low spots) is priced separately when needed.
Resealing every 2-3 years protects the finish — we offer maintenance reseal service.
